Scratches, tears, fading, water damage, yellowing, foxing spots, and general deterioration. Best on scanned prints from the 1900s-1990s era.

Does it work on very old photos from the 1800s?

Yes, it handles daguerreotypes and early prints well. Very heavily damaged photos may need multiple passes for best results.

Will it change the look of the people in the photo?

No. The AI preserves facial identity and features. It restores detail and fixes damage without altering how people look.

Should I enable scratch removal?

Enable it if you can see visible scratches, creases, or tears. For photos that are just faded or low-contrast, you can leave it off.

What scanning resolution should I use?

300 DPI or higher gives best results. The more detail in the scan, the more the AI has to work with for restoration.

Can it restore color to black and white photos?

This tool focuses on damage repair, not colorization. Use our Colorize tool after restoring for best results on B&W photos.

How long does processing take?

About 30-45 seconds for most photos. Photos with scratch removal enabled take slightly longer due to additional analysis.
